Today's Wonder Women
In the midst of all of the challenges and scary stuff going on in the world right now, this week I want to bring you something inspiring.
Back in March, as the world began to deal with the spread of COVID-19, my friend and colleague Asha Dahya was getting ready to release her new book.
Asha’s awe-inspiring book is about women and female-identifying heroes who have defied death, flouted cultural norms, and risen above poverty to become CEOs, entrepreneurs, activists, role models, media moguls, and movement creators.
It’s a collection of stories, essays, and interviews that celebrate the superpowers of 50 women from around the world.
Asha happens to be one of the esteemed sisters in our 50 Women Can Change the World in Media & Entertainment cohort. : )
She is a journalist, content creator, and the founder and editor-in-chief of GirlTalkHQ.com, a daily news site promoting positive imagery and representation of women in media. Asha is also the mother of two children.
While Asha had planned a big promotional tour for the release of her book, like everyone else dealing with COVID-19, Asha had to cancel all of her travel plans.
Asha, however, refused to let a global pandemic slow down her passion to see the stories in her book make an impact on readers far and wide, and instead she took her campaign digital.
Today, it is with great pleasure and honor that I share with you Today’s Wonder Women…
In Today’s Wonder Women: Everyday Superheroes Who Are Changing the World, 50 women share their wisdom and advice in ways that will inspire you to discover your own superpowers, and remind you that setbacks and struggles are not the end of your story.
It’s the perfect book for right now!
Hear what others are saying:
“In Today’s Wonder Women, Asha Dahya does exactly what all who are interested in real progress should do: she passes the mic to those women, often on the margins, who are doing some of the most challenging work to advance social, racial and economic justice—and to make a name for themselves in environments that have been hostile to women, people of color, and religious and sexual minorities. The book inspires awe and action”
Raquel Evita Saraswati, NOW Philadephia Woman of the Year 2019
“We are in a unique moment in history where women’s stories of strength and resilience help illuminate a more integrated image of what it means to be fearless and female in the 21st century. Asha Dahya has compiled stories, essays and interviews that teach us about the extraordinary works of extraordinary women.”
Helen Slater, actress, Supergirl
“Today’s Wonder Women takes you on an exciting journey through the voices and stories of women around the world. By the end of the book you feel like you’ve gained a new sisterhood of female changemakers to inspire you on a daily basis. Today’s Wonder Women will leave you feeling emboldened to take up more space, use your voice, and be the hero in your own story.”
