The Power of Women Performers
Jessica Rose from Toronto wrote a letter to the New York Times magazine which caught my attention. It is featured in this Sunday's Magazine:Why are the women in the “Great Performers” series all ornaments to the men? On the magazine’s cover, Zoë Saldana is literally painted into a costume that frames the reserved, respectable head of Sam Worthington. Penélope Cruz and Daniel Day-Lewis’s photo repeats this message. In the Colin Firth and Julianne Moore photo, he is the stable center, and she is the decorative periphery. If this is about taking these performers seriously, why are only the men accorded that privilege?JESSICA ROSE, Torontovia Letters - Great Performers - NYTimes.com.Your thoughts?
