What Would Happen if Every Girl Told the Truth About Her Life?
by Tabby Biddle
What would happen if every girl told the truth about her life? Would our world be any different?
Last week I participated in a "training of the trainers" with Global Girl Media, a non-profit organization that was founded by a group of female media professionals to develop the voice and media literacy of young women in underserved communities to ignite community activism and social change.
I was inspired to make the above video as a result of my experience and wanted to share with you my insights, reflections, why I do this work, and hopefully inspire you and your voice. I'd love to hear your impressions in the comments section below.
Global Girl Media currently trains teen girls in South Africa, Morocco, London, and the United States (Los Angeles, Oakland, Coachella, Chicago). They partner with schools, after-school programs, NGO's and community centers to select girls for training, and team up with women journalists (like me), filmmakers and digital media mavens to run the trainings.
Here's a chance to hear from the Global Girls directly:
It is such an honor to be a partner with this organization. I believe so strongly in the power of girls voices to change the direction of our culture -- to one of more inclusion, humanity and feminine-affirming artistry and laws.
Is there a teen girl in your life whose voice you can support by asking her about her ideas and opinions, and affirming for her that her voice matters?
I encourage you to do this, as well as to recognize and affirm the value of your own voice.
My question to you this week: What do you stand for?
Please share your comments about this below. I'd love to hear from you and support your voice in the world.
